Attention all Westlake parents! September 21st is a very important day for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Westlake Academy. All parents of Westlake Academy MYP students and all parents interested in learning more about what an IB World School (International Baccalaureate) is all about, are invited to join us to learn more about the IB approach to grading, assessments and service. Dr. Andra Barton has been a member of the educational community for over 20 years. Serving as a principal for the past 17 years she credits the middle years program as one of her favorites. Having completed International Baccalaureate training prior to coming to Westlake Academy, she enjoys the MYP and the inquiry based approach it provides for middle- aged students. Dr. Barton received her doctorate degree in Education at Baylor University, Masters of Education at Texas Christian University and Bachelors of Science at Texas Tech University. She has studied abroad in China and Thailand working with the Educational Departments and participated in an internship with the Department of Education in Washington D.C. with an emphasis on International Affairs. She believes these experiences and her education were instrumental in preparing her for the position as MYP Principal at Westlake Academy. Andra enjoys traveling, serving and educating the homeless population and spending time with her two daughters and husband.
