Don’t turn holiday cheer into tears. Drive sober.

Tarrant County will be implementing “No Refusal” operations over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays in an effort to combat drunken driving.

The Christmas “No Refusal” initiative will begin at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, and will run through 5:30 a.m. Monday, December 30.

The New Year’s “No Refusal” campaign will begin at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, and run through 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 1.

During these times, participating police agencies will use search warrants to take blood from motorists who are arrested for driving while intoxicated but refuse to take a breath test.

Tarrant County’s “No Refusal” campaigns are funded by a $301,555 grant and includes all major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Super Bowl, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.

As usual, those who are arrested and charged with DWI during a “No Refusal” operation will have their names and ages published on the DA’s website, www.tarrantda.com.

“As we celebrate Christmas and bring in the New Year, let’s all make a resolution to be safe and sober on the roads of Tarrant County,” said Prosecutor Richard Alpert. “Rest assured, those who fail to do so will be found, arrested, and jailed.”
