Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE) has announced Ken Thompson as the 2012 Angel of GRACE at its VIP Gala Sponsor Party held in Vaquero, hosted by Paula and Charlie Walker. The Angel of GRACE award is presented at the GRACE Gala each year to an outstanding GRACE supporter who exemplifies the agency’s mission.
“We consider ourselves blessed to know Ken and to have received so much of his support,” said Shonda Schaefer, GRACE Executive Director. “Ken and The Thompson Group at Classic Chevrolet have been the Gala’s Presenting Sponsor for five years now; however, he has known, invested and supported GRACE over the past 25 years.”
In just two weeks, the Northeast Tarrant County community will experience the GRACE Gala – Angels Among Us – in the grand ballroom at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. On Saturday, Oct. 13, people from across the DFW area will gather to support GRACE through an evening of celebration.
“We are celebrating our 25th year of GRACE this year and can see that the Gala excitement is at an all-time high,” said Schaefer. “It’s going to be an incredible evening of celebration and giving back.”
Known as the Black Tie Event of the Year, the GRACE Gala raises much-needed funds, which directly benefit local residents.
“I’m proud that monies raised at the Gala go to help our neighbors in need. Our staff, volunteers and sponsors work very hard to keep our costs down,” Schaefer said. “Our Gala Committee Chairs Stephanie and Tommy Pennington have an outstanding committee that has worked very hard to find unique and wonderful ways to lavish our guests in grand style.”
The Gala will feature Fox 4’s Meteorologist Dan Henry as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, Auctioneer Mike Saddler, known for extreme energy, will present the live auction, and one of the most sought after bands, Limelight, will close the evening with live music and dancing. Along with a multi-level auction highlighting great travel and luxury items, a 2012 Chevy Camaro Convertible or a Silverado Extended Cab also will be raffled with the drawing held at the Gala event. Raffle tickets can be purchased until the drawing and some auction items can be previewed online at www.GRACEGala.org.
The Gala supports GRACE programming that provides assistance to individuals and families in crisis as well as the guidance needed to reach self-sufficiency.
“The GRACE Gala provides a way that we can come together to celebrate each other as we help GRACE help our neighbors in their time of need. Let’s rejoice in giving, in helping, and in celebrating,” Schaefer said.
Time is short, however, seats and tables are available at www.GRACEGala.org.
