Westlake  Historical Preservation Society will have its Annual Decoration Day event on May 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Westlake I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 3101 JT Ottinger Road, Westlake. This annual event is a salute to those who serve our great nation, past and present. Highlights include guest speaker Ret. Army Lt. General Ricky Lynch, husband, father, grandfather, author and leader. The event will also include special music and a program, “Let Freedom Ring, Let Civility Shine,” to honor and remember the significance of Decoration Day and Memorial Day.

Attendees also will be able to learn more about and participate in the tradition of the Buddy Poppy, with proceeds to benefit our local VFW chapter in Roanoke. Join the fun with FREE admission, FREE parking, FREE hot dogs, and FREE Dutch oven cobbler prepared onsite by local Boy Scout Troop 170! Also, bring your family’s favorite homemade ice-cream to share and enter it in our homemade ice-cream contest. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets, your camera, and mosquito repellant! Sorry, no pets please. For more information, go to www.westlake-tx.org and click the Special Events photo at the bottom of the home page.
